While you're waiting for my revision on the crochet tea cozy, I will tell you about this website, Crochet Designer Blog.  Called also, a Stitch Story. Day 1.  Very interesting reading and a fun site to visit.

I especially like her idea to......well here is what she had to say about discovering a pretty technique:

"I decided that my special post to kick off National Crochet Month, should be about a new technique I have been experimenting with. Actually my daughter gave me the idea, when she asked if she could use some of my swatches for an art project. She said they weren't the right color, and she needed to paint them to match her color scheme. She used acrylic paint, so when the pieces were dry, they were rigid, but she was pleased with the results. I loved the idea of being able to place color exactly where I want it, after a piece has been crocheted. A neat alternative to changing colors in yarn, and having multiple ends to weave in!"

What a beautiful idea, huh?

Thread Crochet Bear

Here's my little guy. He was easy to make but it took a couple tries to put him together. The thread crochet animals can be so cute made with different yarns.

Today I want to try a lamb.

Thread Crochet Bear Pattern I must share with you!

I've really become interested in making miniature animals. Smaller than those amagumuri things.........I love them, don't get me wrong, but these are just too cute. I have made them before but didn't get very far. I have some body pieces I need to get put together and then, yea!! I get to go shopping for threads and yarns for my new little bears and other animals.

Alice Fowler Baby Set Designs

I came across a set of crochet patterns on this rather unique web site and I just have to share it with you. Mary Ellen, owner of the web site, had this to say when I asked her if I could feature her web site on my blog:

"That would be great. Please also ask for anybody with any of her patterns (espcially the missing ones in my collection), or with any information about who she was/any family/etc to get in touch with me. Thank you."

There's more information on her home page so please take a look and maybe you can help her out. There's so many wonderful crochet patterns here that look to be to be a great challenge.

I took this little excerpt from her site:

A lady by the name of Alice Fowler designed many crochet (and a few knit) layette patterns printed and sold 40-60 years ago. Her designs captured the hearts and minds of grandmothers to children. Today, yarn shops in her home town of Colorado Springs, CO, do not know of her. The address where she once lived is now a business location without ties to her.

I am working on some patterns to post for you. As soon as I get them checked over by an editor, I will be posting them for you.

Also, I've horrible problems with the broadband card we use. I am going out tomorrow to look for a better way to get and stay connected.

Filet Crochet Designs Coming Soon

This is one of my filet crochet patterns that will be available on http://www.crochetdesigns.com/. The full set hasn't been published quite yet. I will let you know when the full set is published. There'll be 12 different designs featuring different countries in filet crocheted table toppers and tea towels. The tea towels can be used as table toppers, also, and will be designed with color.

Lily Sugar and Spice Pot Holders

I know this isn't my hat nor a floppy hat at all but I decided to switch to pot holders. They're kind of cute.

Here's my first ones. I really need to get to the store for more yarn. I don't have a stash like a lot of people and am getting dangerously low on yarn.

Update on My Lorenz Manifold Crochet Pattern

pattern is taking longer than I thought it would as I'm only on row 31 and when complete I will have 591 stitches. It's been fun to crochet but the real test is making it take shape when I'm all done. There's a total of 47 row and 1104 stitches. Already it's taking my evening to crochet one row. As it gets bigger, it's going to take me two evenings to do one row.

April Showers Bring May Flowers CROCHET RAIN DROP Pattern?

I thought April could be April showers, remember, and was looking for a crochet pattern for a rain drop. Then I thought why? Who would want to crochet a rain drop?

I couldn't find a pattern I liked, so I just started crocheting and this is what I came up with. All the patterns I found called for worsted weight yarn, which I love to use, but I didn't want a huge rain drop! So I used my blue crochet thread and a #7 steel crochet hook. This one measures just under 3". The next one I make, I promise I will write down what I did so you can have the pattern and make some, too.

Maybe several could be crocheted and strung like a little garland. Maybe one could be attached to a skewer and stuck in a plant. Any other ideas out there? I will try to get more made and add them to a garland so you can see what that would look like. I left the thread attached so it could be tied onto a keyring or something. I would love to hear more ideas.

What do you think? Did I keep my promise? It IS a rain drop!
