  Adorable Knitting Site with Mochimochi Patterns

I found this great website for you.  You can buy her patterns and her website explains how and where you can find them.  Don't miss out!  Look at her blog, too.  She has "helps" to make her little tiny patterns.

Have you ever heard of mochimochi?  I'm not sure what it means but it sure is cute!
I spent quite a bit of time on her website just giggling and truly enjoying her creations.  She's quite talented.   You'll giggle when you see the pigs with wigs and a tiny little umbrella!  Make sure you see the toilet paper!

New Crochet Project

We're just about to get on the road again after spending all winter at Rio Bend RV park as workampers........I've been teaching Zumba Fitness and my husband working in the maintenance department.  When we're on the road, we're heading home to Washington State, I love to knit or crochet.

My next project will be to make another of those chair arm bags only this time I want to use plastic grocery bags.  I think it'll have less sag and more stability.  It's been so nice to have it hanging there with my journal, puzzles, pens, pencils and phone right at hand.  It's big enough to add a little snack, too.

So here it is repeated:

Ok, so here's the pattern as promised.  If you crochet, you know how to make adjustments for your chair arm.  Make sure you measure. 

Chair Pocket

Cotton yarn
G hook
Gauge isn't that important

Chain 40

Round 1, SC in 2ndh chain from hook and each chain to end, SC 3 in end chain and do not turn but continue crocheting around the other side of the 40 chains adding 2 in the end stitch.

Rounds 2 and 3, repeat round 1 so you have 3 rounds with increases on each end.

Round 4, SC in each stitch around with NO increases for about 3 rows, or desired number of rows to make a more solid bottom.

Round 6, if you want, change to a DC around each row for about 17 or desired size of pouch.  

Because you crocheted around, the stitches/rows tend to twist so begin next row by slip stitch to the corner so the flap goes straight up the side.  About 4 sts.

Now crochet in rows going back and forth to the desired length so that it fits around the arm of your chair.  I am using mine on a passenger seat in the motor home so they are quite thick and big.  I did 35 rows and then:

If you want a contrasting color, I had to because I ran out of the orange, attach it at the top in corner going down the side of the flap till you get to the pouch, sc across the top of the pouch and back up the other side of the flap.  End off.

Try the pouch on the arm and determine where the buttons should go.  I used 3 but 4 might be better depending on the width of your pouch.  Sew on buttons and use the spaces between the DC as button holes.  Waalaa!  Chair pouch!

My name is Glenna, and I live near Toronto, Ontario. Having learned to knit as a child, I would say that I became a true “Knitter” more than six years ago while studying for my PhD, as a form of stress relief and distraction. As I've said so many times, I live on the road and sometimes I have trouble getting new yarn to work with so I use whatever I have.  It happened to be Christmas time so mine became snowflakes!  LOL

Filet Crochet Designs Coming Soon

This is one of my filet crochet patterns that will be available on http://www.crochetdesigns.com/. The full set hasn't been published quite yet. I will let you know when the full set is published. There'll be 12 different designs featuring different countries in filet crocheted table toppers and tea towels. The tea towels can be used as table toppers, also, and will be designed with color.

Basketweave Crocheted Purse

This is my Basketweave crocheted purse that I am almost finished making. I still need to put the clip closure on it and line it but the crochet part is done. I found the pattern here. Knots & Loops blogspot. The patternis free. I did ask her permission to post this on my blog but never heard from her. (Donna suggested you visit her web site for another free pattern: tam Thank you so much Donna)

The yarn I used was Lion Brand Chenille in a denim color and their Jiffy in Denim spray. The major part of the purse is just double strand chenille and the strap, sides and closing flap is one strand of each since I ran out of the chenille. It's a rather stiff bag but should soften up a little with use.

It's a beautiful purse and I can't wait to have it completely done. Her photo is far better than mine. I just can't take a good picture.

Now, I'm going to work on more of the CD snowflakes.

Toilet Paper Cover Crochet Pattern to Use Your Red Heart Super Saver Yarn

Here's a really fun FREE pattern for using your favorite Red Heart super saver yarn. I think you MUST give it a try. Wouldn't it be a fun gift?

I found this on the http://craftside.typepad.com/craftside/april-24-30-09/ blog and would like to give her full credit for the pattern. She calls it Pop Art. I call it Pretty Darn Cute!

And I think Pop Art fits best.

To make your own TP cozy you'll need:

Materials

Gray worsted weight yarn

White Worsted weight yarn

size H crochet hook

yarn needle

How to crochet the roll of toilet paper cozy:

With the gray yarn:

Chain 4 and slip stitch to join

Chain 1

About 15 sc into circle and join

chain 1

single crochet around again, about every 3rd or 4th stitch do a second sc in the same loop. This will increase the size of the circle allowing it to stay flat. Adjust number of stitches as needed to lay flat.

Cut gray yarn and weave in the end.

With the white yarn:

SC around gray circle every few stitches doing two sc in one loop. Join each circle, then chain 1 and repeat until you have a circle the size of your roll of toilet paper. For me this was about 6 rows (circles)

For the side:

Chain 15

Chain 1 and sc into second to last stitch.

SC back into every chain stitch, chain 1, turn and sc back into every stitch. Adjust number of stitches as needed for your roll of toilet paper.

Repeat until you have a strip long enough to go around the entire roll of toilet paper plus a few inches to fall open. For me it was about 20 inches.

Stitch the top to the sides and then join the beginning of the side strip under the falling open end.

Weave in all the ends.

Second Afghan Attempt on Machine ~ Lace

This is my second afghan done on my bulky knitting machine. I think it turned out really well. The lace panel took a bit longer than expected or I like but I think it's great and the extra time spent was well worth it. I used a 4 ply worsed weight yarn made by Red Heart and has no dye lot and is acrylic for easy care.

Then I am learning how to use a circular needle and tried my hand at what's called the magic loop. Knitting in the round on a circular needle instead of double pointed needles. This is also a Red Heart fingering yarn. Also acrylic.

When I started, I was doing a plain knit and got really bored after just a few rows so found a pretty lace pattern and now I'm really rolling along. I've done the heel and am on my way up the leg part. This photo was before I got the heel done but you can see the lace.

Machine Knit Afghan Red Heart Yarn

Here's my latest knitting project which is using my knitting machine and Red Heart yarn. It took me awhile to figure out how to keep the sides from rolling but all the nice people on the yahoo group I'm in helped me and I think it turned out great! There is no pattern, just complete knitting. I released two stitches on the sides and let them run. They using two from each side, I laced them up.

May Flowers Free Flower Crochet Pattern

Finally, I am back online with a new computer and ready for May flowers! Remember? May is to be our month of flowers whether they're knitted or crocheted patterns. I have my first flower designed and it's FREE to you to give it a try. It takes very little scrap yarn so have fun using up your scrap yarns and creating lots of May flowers.

Chain 4 and slip into first chain to make a loop, chain 1

row 1, 8 sc in loop, slip in top of chain 1

row 2, 2 sc in each of the sc from previous row (no need to turn and nothing has to be exact here) 16 sc

row 3, this row sc in next sc and 2 sc in next sc all the way around alternating till you have approximately 24 stitches

row 4, chain 5 and sc in the next stitch around; approximately 22 loops, slip to join and fasten.

row 5, change colors and join in any sc in row below loops, chain 5 slip in next sc around till you have 15 or 16 chain 5 loops. Make sure, because it is a spiral, that you stay consistantly in a circle. join and fasten yarn.

Now, take one of the yarn colors or even a double stand; one of each, and from the front put hook through one of the sc stitches and draw up the yarn from the back. Pull up about 3 inches of yarn. Continue around and around until you've gone around about three or four times using the same single crochets from that same row over and over. This will tighten up the strands of yarn but also going around continuously it will be automatically attached in the back so they won't pull out. See photos. Now trim the strands to make the fuzzy center.

Hope this makes sense and you can make lots of flowers with this pattern. If you have any questions, please let me know. But it's such a free form flower pattern, there really is no right or wrong. Have fun and I'll come back with another flower pattern.

Take a look at this wonderful version of the Raindrop pattern at Thea's Craft. I asked if someone would try my crochet pattern and Thea was kind enough to do so for me.

Isn't her raindrop wonderful?! I wouldn't have thought to use more than one color and she used worset weight yarn, like Red Heart, which is one of my favorites. Plus she was able to use some scraps.

WTG!! Thea! I wish I had a photo but if you go to her blog, you'll see it. She has a wonderful blog so don't miss it.

April Showers Bring May Flowers CROCHET RAIN DROP Pattern?

I thought April could be April showers, remember, and was looking for a crochet pattern for a rain drop. Then I thought why? Who would want to crochet a rain drop?

I couldn't find a pattern I liked, so I just started crocheting and this is what I came up with. All the patterns I found called for worsted weight yarn, which I love to use, but I didn't want a huge rain drop! So I used my blue crochet thread and a #7 steel crochet hook. This one measures just under 3". The next one I make, I promise I will write down what I did so you can have the pattern and make some, too.

Maybe several could be crocheted and strung like a little garland. Maybe one could be attached to a skewer and stuck in a plant. Any other ideas out there? I will try to get more made and add them to a garland so you can see what that would look like. I left the thread attached so it could be tied onto a keyring or something. I would love to hear more ideas.

What do you think? Did I keep my promise? It IS a rain drop!
